NIGERIAN PRESIDENT AND GOVERNORS' SALARIES REVEALED
By Naomi Bitrus
The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Muhammed Shehu, has disclosed the annual and monthly salaries of Nigeria's President and state governors.
According to Shehu, the President's annual salary is ₦14,058,820, which translates to a monthly income of ₦1,171,568. State governors, on the other hand, earn ₦7,782,968 annually, or ₦648,581 monthly.
Shehu emphasized that these figures are based on data available on RMAFC and noted that political officeholders in Nigeria do not earn exorbitant salaries, contrary to popular belief. He also pointed out that there has been no salary increment for these positions since 2007.
In a surprising revelation, Shehu clarified that some civil servants, including employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), earn more than ministers and legislators. This disclosure aims to shed light on the actual salaries of Nigeria's top government officials.
